Cape Town - Cape Town is all about sea, sun and surf.
Yes, Capetonian’s work and do all those normal things that are required to get by, but the true beating heart of this city is the holiday vibe that starts in November and carries on through to April.
This atmosphere is perpetuated by the steady stream of holidaymakers who come to explore the city, climb the mountain and lie on the beaches (and infuriate the locals who complain about no parking, the traffic, inflated prices and the fact they can’t get a table at their favourite spot.)
That said, Capetonians are an easy going bunch who love nothing more than showing off their city to amazed visitors who can’t get over the glory of the mountain and the beauty of the unique coastline – they will all tell you that along with the many natural wonders, there is a number of incredible events lined up for March 2016 that are helping to put Cape Town on the world stage. Huge sporting events, such as the Cape Town Cycle Tour, and the greatest Carnival this side of the Atlantic – Cape Town Carnival.
So, if you were thinking of heading to Cape Town, book that ticket and head over in March 2016. The weather is still warm and is less changeable than it can be earlier in the summer, and there are a number of bucket-list experiences lined up:
Cape Town Carnival
Taking place on March 12, the Cape Town Carnival is heading into its seventh year and is bigger and better than ever. The parade, which kicks off with a spectacular fireworks display, attracts around 50 000 spectators each year, who come to see the sparkling, dazzling dancers and speciality acts that light up the Green Point Fan Walk, which was built for the 2010 World Cup and is the perfect venue for this extravaganza. The event is free and the party goes on all night so wear comfortable shoes and bring something to sit on to watch the parade go by.

Cape Town Cycle Tour
Formerly known as The Argus, the Cape Town Cycle Tour is a world class sporting event that attracts over 35 000 participants and even more spectators as it winds its way across the Cape Peninsula. This iconic 109km race is a highlight on the international cycling calendar and this year is taking place on March 6, 2016. It’s too late to enter, but watching is way more fun. Bring a blanket and a picnic and find a scenic spot somewhere along the route where you can cheer on the cyclists while enjoying the beauty of the surrounds.

Essential Tips:
Public transport: Make sure to travel first class on the train and never depend on the times. Trains are always delayed and often cancelled. Buses are fun but make sure that you travel with them during the day (not peak) and you will either love or hate the taxi experience. MyCiti busses or Uber are safe and reliable.
Walking around at night: Cape Town has a vibrant night life but it would be best if you stay in groups or have companions with you. Make sure that you stay aware of your surroundings but enjoy each and every moment of the night life - especially with Cape Town Carnival, Long Street
Weather Cape Town is famous for its unpredictable weather. You can get all four seasons in one day so it’s worth checking the weather forecasts if you're planning to do anything that is dependent on good weather.
