Samara Private Game Reserve in the Karoo is offering a volunteer programme.

The game reserve has made it its mission to ensure the regeneration of the lands of the Eastern Cape’s Great Karoo and has reintroduced many endangered species. Alongside the SA College of Tourism Tracker Academy at Samara, which is run by one of only two master trackers in South Africa, is the volunteer programme.

The volunteer programme offers you the opportunity to experience the unique landscape of the Great Karoo and contribute to the conservation of it and the many plants and animals it supports.

Samara now offers the opportunity for mature volunteers to be involved.

Volunteers are taught to be competent in field techniques, meaning the data collected can be used by management and affiliated organisations. You are promised a deeper understanding of the bush, as well as useful skills and techniques used in current scientific research, conservation and wildlife management.

For more information on the volunteer programme visit www.samara.co.za, e-mail [email protected] or call 049 891 0558. - Sunday Independent
