HAIR AND fashion go together because what’s the runway without dramatic hair to complement the garments?

South African luxury fashion brand Maxhosa Africa has partnered with international haircare brand TRESemmé.

At the “All Hair All You” event held at Melrose Arch, on Friday, July 26, both brands staged a fashion show to announce their iconic partnership.

The models draped in Maxhosa had their hair styled in avant-garde to compliment the luxurious garments made of the finest materials, including mohair wool.

Laduma Ngxokolo, founder of Maxhosa, who will be showcasing at Paris Fashion Week in September said the partnership came at the right time when he’ll be doing two international fashion shows at Paris and New York Fashion Week.

“We’ve been seeking and exploring hairstyles and hair products that pair very well with our work for a while now. Working with a hair partner that has a variety of products that suit diverse types of hair was one of our most important criteria.

“We’ve had so far, a successful working relationship with TRESemmé at our recent annual Kulture Festival, and we are very excited about how the collaboration will continue to elevate our fashion showcases,” Ngxokolo said.

As the only African brand added on the Paris Fashion Week calendar, Ngxokolo said he would love to see more African brands competing internationally because Paris is the mecca of fashion.

He was grateful for the partnership because showcasing internationally is ultra expensive and working with TRESemmé will help them a lot logistically.

Xola Alakhe Mbadamana, TRESemmé brand leader said it was important for them to work with a brand that celebrates African cultures and Maxhosa was the perfect fit.

“This partnership is all about celebrating South African women and their crowning glory – honouring diverse hair textures, local fashion, and beauty.

“By combining fashion and hair artistry, we can show the power of South African style, through elegant garments complimented by inspiring hairstyles,” Mbadamana said.

The hair brand also took the opportunity to introduce DJ Zinhle and Banele “Moghelingz” Ndaba as the new partners.
