Despite securing an impressive 3-2 victory over Orlando Pirates in the Carling Knockout Cup on Saturday, Magesi FC coach Clinton Larsen has conceded that his team are still missing at least four to five quality players.

Magesi FC, promoted to the Betway Premiership after winning the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season, shocked South African football by defeating the Buccaneers at Orlando Stadium.

However, Larsen, who masterminded the victory, said Dikwena tša Meetse still lacked four or five quality players to thrive in the top flight.

“We’ll keep trying to educate the people around us trying to improve club and I think with this group of young players the potential is there.

“Yes, we’re short of four to five really, really quality players but with the limited budgetary constraints that we have as club it’s very difficult to bring those type of players in,” Larsen said.

Larsen added Magesi will continue to work with the players they have at their disposal.

“So, we will keep working with what we have got and try to squeeze every last bit of potential out of the players that we have.”

Magesi will square off against TS Galaxy in quarter-finals of the Carling Cup and will look to replicate their impressive showing against the Rockets.
