Pretoria - The Tshwane Metro Police Department has warned the public in and around the Pretoria CBD to take note of a march taking place in the area today.

The march is hosted by Operation Dudula, and the organisation will be asking the SANDF to assist the SAPS and other law-enforcement agencies in combating crime in the country.

The marchers will gather from 9am at corner Lillian Ngoyi Street and Jeff Masemola Street (Burgers Park).

From there, the marchers will march on Lillian Ngoyi Street northbound, turn left onto Nana Sita Street, right onto Bosman Street, then right onto Madiba Street, proceed eastbound on Madiba Street until they reach the SANDF Intelligence offices after Thabo Sehume Street.

The streets to be affected by the march are Helen Joseph, Pretorius, Thabo Sehume, Lillian Ngoyi, Francis Baard, Nana Sita, Madiba, Paul Kruger and Bosman, according to metro police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba.

He said the marchers were expected to disperse from the SANDF Intelligence Offices at 1.30pm.

Tshwane metro police officers will be deployed to monitor march and all affected streets.

Motorists were advised to avoid affected streets and use alternative routes such as Eskia Mphahlele, Boom, Kgosi Mampuru II, Struben and Du Toit, Mahamba added.
