The Russian armed forces launched a massive strike on critical facilities of the fuel and energy infrastructure of Ukraine, which provided the work of the military-industrial complex, in response to Kiev's use of six ATACMS missiles at the airfield in Taganrog, the Russian Defence Ministry said on Friday.

"In response to the use of US long-range weapons the Russian armed forces carried out a massive strike using high-precision long-range air and sea-based weapons, attack unmanned aerial vehicles on critically important objects of the fuel and energy infrastructure of Ukraine, ensuring the operation of the military-industrial complex," the statemnt read.

The purpose of the strike was achieved, all objects were hit, the ministry said.

The strike was carried out in response to the use of six ATACMS tactical missiles by Kiev on December 11 at a military airfield near Taganrog, the ministry explained.
