As we head towards the end of the week, South Africa is in for a mix of extreme heat, scattered showers, and widespread rain in certain areas.

Here's what to expect:

For Thursday, the South African Weather Services says the weather outlook predicts extremely hot conditions in parts of Limpopo and Mpumalanga, with temperatures soaring in regions like Musina and Polokwane.

Most inland areas, including the Free State and North West, will also experience very hot temperatures.

Rainfall probabilities remain low at 30% across the eastern parts of the country, including KwaZulu-Natal, eastern Gauteng, and Mpumalanga. Coastal regions in the Western Cape will experience mild conditions with scattered clouds and temperatures in the "warm" range.

Friday sees a continuation of extreme heat in Limpopo and Mpumalanga. However, there is an increase in rainfall probabilities, with widespread 80% rain expected over the eastern coastlines of KwaZulu-Natal. Coastal and inland regions, such as Gauteng and the Free State, can anticipate scattered showers, with rainfall probabilities ranging between 40% and 60%.

For the Western and Northern Cape, the dry conditions persist, with mild temperatures accompanied by scattered clouds.

The rest of the week will bring intense heat in the northern parts of South Africa, with some relief in the form of scattered and widespread rainfall in the eastern regions.

Stay hydrated and prepare for possible showers if you're in areas with higher rainfall probabilities.
