A coordinated operation by specialised police units has resulted in the arrest of four men and the recovery of firearms, drugs, and a hijacked vehicle in Mfuleni.
The Western Cape police spokesperson, Malcolm Pojie said this happened during an intelligence- driven operation in the early hours of Wednesday, December 4.
“At approximately 4am, members operationalised information about an identified address where firearms were possibly kept.
“They approached and searched the premises in Gugulethu where they arrested a 34-year-old male for the illegal possession of two prohibited firearms which were confiscated,” said Pojie.
“Further investigation led them to another premises where they arrested a 33-year-old male for dealing in drugs.”
Further inquiries directed the team to a third location in Mfuleni, where they uncovered a hijacked vehicle. Two men were arrested at the scene.
A search of the vehicle revealed an imitation firearm and several mobile phones suspected to have been used in criminal activities.
The suspects face charges including illegal possession of firearms, dealing in drugs, possession of a hijacked vehicle, and possession of suspected stolen property.
They will appear in the Bluedowns and Athlone Magistrate's Courts once formal charges are filed.
