This nasty bit of work is the Hamann Tycoon IIM, a tweaked-'n-tuned BMW X6M from Laupheim with enough whup-ass under its power-bulging carbon-fibre bonnet to more than match its attitudinous looks.
It's amazing just how much power a top German tuning haus can liberate from a BMW engine without even taking the heads off. In this case all it took was a free-flow auspuff with catalytic converter pipes and a complete re-map of the standard Bosch Motoric ECU, and quoted power is up from 408 to 493kW, torque is up from 680 to 950Nm and top speed from an electronically limited 250km/h to a claimed 300km/h!
ALL ABOUT THE LOOK
But it's really all about the look, isn't it, and here Hamann has done BMW's fastback SUV proud with a six-piece aero kit that includes a new front airdam with low dual lips and integrated LED daytime running lights, new front wings with built-in wheel-arch flares and integrated side skirts, continuing around the rear wheels to the centre rear panel, which houses black or silver-anodised tailpipes coming off the specially designed rear silencer.
Not one but two spoilers - one on the edge of the boot-lid and one on the rear of the roof - round off the body work, but the look would not be complete without lowering the suspension (40mm in this case) and ditching the standard 20 hoops in favour of 22" Anniversary Evo Black Line rims shod with 295/30 front and 335/25 rear rubber or, if that's not bling enough, 23" ultra-light forged Anodised rims wearing 315/25 tackies all round.
CARBON-FIBRE TRIM
Inside, the speedometer now reads to 320km/h, there's a new three-spoked, black leather sports steering wheel, alcantara upholstery inserts, special Hamann badges and a 12-piece carbon-fibre trim kit for the instrument panel, door trims, front and rear centre consoles and gear lever.
Illuminated scuff plates made of brushed stainless steel and black-anodised aluminium pedals make even your feet feel special.
