Yesterday, the Princess of Wales accompanied her husband to Southport, marking her first public appearance since announcing she had completed her chemotherapy.
Initially, she was not scheduled to join Prince William, but just before his arrival, Kensington Palace confirmed that Kate had decided to attend.
It is believed that her intention was to demonstrate support, empathy, and compassion towards the local community.
The royal couple privately met with the families of Bebe King (6), Elsie Dot Stancombe (7), and Alice Dasilva Aguiar (9), who died on July 29, 2024 during a knife attack on a children's dance group.
They also spent time with Leanne Lucas, the dance instructor critically injured while trying to protect her class, having been stabbed in the neck, back, and arms.
This visit marked Catherine’s first official public engagement since completing her chemotherapy treatment.
While she has gradually resumed work, attending meetings about her early years campaign last month, this appearance is seen as a significant step in her return to royal duties.
Catherine has previously spoken of having "good days and bad days," and Kensington Palace has emphasised that her schedule may need to remain flexible, with potential last-minute changes.
After spending about 90 minutes with the families of the three children, the couple walked to Southport Community Centre, where they met with emergency responders involved in the attack. They also had the opportunity to speak with health professionals from the area.
Kate, who wore a long brown coat with heels, her hair styled in loose curls, inquired about the mental health support available to those affected, commenting: "For you to witness that, you need support yourselves."
