Shaun Stylist's (real name Shaun Andile Naki) latest single “Iyebobo” fuses amapiano rhythms with a celebration of South African culture, promising to energise dance floors this summer.
The track, which features CowBoii as well as Candy Flow RSA and ShennyDaDeejay, was released on Friday, December 6.
It is inspired by the popular KwaZulu-Natal chant of the same name, which translates to being in agreement in Zulu, and has captivated social media and street corners alike.
Released during the festive season, “Iyebobo” is set to dominate playlists and dance floors this summer.
Meanwhile, a statement explained that the song fuses infectious rhythms, playful chants and pulsating basslines in a bid to embody the essence of Mzansi’s party scene.
Stylist added in the statement that it channels the spirit of community and celebration, while also paying homage to the hustle and the rewards of living life to the fullest.”
“It’s a shout-out to the grind, the good times and the undeniable vibe that connects us all,” he said.
The song, which pairs raw street energy with amapiano’s sophisticated groove, is also a tribute to South Africa’s culture of resilience and revelry as it blends traditional elements with a futuristic sound.
Stylist, known for his ability to merge township influences with chart-topping appeal, was born in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng.
He is a man of many talents including being a DJ, artist, businessman, fashionista, philanthropist and a reality TV star.
His new song comes following a heated road rage incident he encountered in Sandton, Johannesburg, last week.
He took to his Instagram story last week to post a picture of his Mercedes V250 with bullet holes. He added the words to the post: “It could’ve been a very different story.
“We need to be careful…our success is a threat to some people. Road rage is very bad. I nearly died because of a white man who shot at my car”.
He added on X that the incident allegedly took place on his way to a gig and did not reveal any more details pertaining to the incident.
Meanwhile, Stylist also released “Ekhoneni”, featuring Sponge101, Scott Maphuma, Soul Nativez and Big John, last month.
The upbeat track also gives off festive vibes as it invites listeners to the dance floor.
