Tributes continue to pour in for renowned media personality Unathi Nkanyi’s father, Sakhiwo Nkayi.

The “Nguwe” hitmaker took to Instagram on Tuesday, December 31, to announce his passing.

“It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved father - Sakhiwo M Nkayi,” she wrote, alongside images of her father as well as pictures of him with her mother, Nondwe Nkayi.

Unathi added: “A true treasure to us all, a great father, beloved friend & uncle to many. He now joins his lineage at their final resting place. We appreciate your love & support during this tough time.”

Sakhiwo’s cause of death as well as funeral details have not been announced yet.

According to his Facebook page, Sakhiwo was a clinical psychologist at a private practice.

He studied at several prestigious tertiary institutions, including the University of Wales, the University of Surrey and the Medical University of South Africa (MEDUNSA).

The former “Idols South Africa” judge often took to social media over the years to praise her father for the pivotal role that he has played in her life.

In 2015, she posted a picture of her with her father with the caption: “My #WisdomCrushWednesday My DADDY! He raised his daughters to be PROUD. He raised his daughters to have self worth!

“He raised us to not compromise on giving our best and expecting the best from others. He raised us to be opinionated and vocal! He raised us to love and give abundantly! #DaddyGotSwag #Sibongabazali.”

On his birthday in November 2021, she posted on Instagram that her father is her first love, adding: “My father was born today a while back We are the same person in spirit and psychology.”

Meanwhile, scores of the media personality's followers took to the comments section to convey their condolences.

This included @tsholzletsholo who wrote:”Oh no, I’m saddened about his passing. Your father was my therapist. He counselled me during my divorce and taught me to be assertive. I’d forever be grateful for him changing my life in a positive way and having a positive outlook in life.

“Today, I stand firm and don’t let any man ride over me simply because he guided me🙏🏽May his beautiful soul rest in peace 💔.

@gugulethumpofundhlovu added: “Eish sad news to wake up to 😢. Glad u did the documentary when you did ... now his wisdom will live with us forever.”

@batsi_r wrote: “I was profoundly moved by the way you spoke about your father during the podcast interview. Your admiration, respect and love for him were unmistakable.

“My sincere condolences to you and your family during this incredibly difficult time.”

Gracechiedza also commented: “Condolences to you and your family. May God comfort you during this difficult time. May your dad’s soul rest in peace and perpetual light shine upon you. 🫂❤️.”
