Springbok star Siya Kolisi spends time back 'home' in Gqeberha

Springbok skipper Siya Kolisi is Decembering in his hometown of Zwide, in Gqeberha enjoying some time off from the rugby field.

Siya has had quite the 2024, following news of his divorce to Rachel Kolisi but hasn't let his personal life drama affect him or take away his smile in public.

Despite his pending divorce, the back-to-back World Cup winning rugby icon has remained focused on his commitments with the Sharks, who are deep in United Rugby Championship (URC) action. Key fixtures include matches against the Stormers on December 28. 

In the carousel posted on Instagram, Kolisi was all smiles with his friends and family as they indulged in braai meat at well-known Lifa and Mafa Butchery. In the clips, Kolisi is seen engaging with the locals, in one he jokes with the police as they surround him.

Fans and supporters took to the comment section and gushed about Siya’s humility.

Siya also made a visit to his former high school, Grey High School and posed next to the Kolisi Field signage. In 2022, Grey renamed their main rugby field after Kolisi.

The rugby star was alone during his trip to Gqeberha without his children, who went on holiday with Rachel to Australia. Rachel has been channelling her energy into the gym and proudly showing off her toned physique on the beaches of Sydney.
