Durban — Developers, businesses and investors arrived in premium rides for an exclusive property launch, which aimed at ultimately boosting investment in Durban.

The Oasis Sibaya Private launch took place at the Sibaya Entertainment and Casino Kingdom in Durban on Thursday.

The event was not only a networking opportunity, but also an opportunity to enjoy the facilities of Sibaya, as they provided an assorted choice of breakfast options and showcased fine dining. They also provided drinks upon reception.

Carol Reynolds, the Pam Golding Properties area principal for Durban Coastal, said that when this project became available, it felt natural to be its developer as they had done extensive work within the area.

Reynolds said that one-bedroom units cost R1.9 million; two-bedroom units R3.6 million and three-bedroom units R5.9 million.

Reynolds said Sibaya’s growth had been astronomical and that due to the high price ceiling, it has led to high investment.

Reynolds praised this development as it is also close to many landmarks, and that further increased the influx of tourists and investors.

She said this was important and fantastic for the eThekwini economy as there had been a 700% growth here since the Sibaya precinct was built and this had led to more ratepayers.

The development consists of:

  • Six blocks, each with 10 units per floor and six floors,
  • A gym,
  • 2.2km of cycling and walking trails,
  • Padel courts,
  • Clubhouse and pool,
  • Direct access to Sibaya Casino and Entertainment Kingdom,
  • Easy driver access,
  • And it is pet friendly.

Oasis Sibaya director Brian Mpono said he felt honoured to be a part of this project as it would contribute towards boosting investment in the city.

He said that he aimed to carry the developers’ vision forward and sell Oasis Sibaya as the premium destination for a family lifestyle and hospitality living.

He said that it was an important addition to safe and secure living in the area because northern Durban was being populated with family-orientated activity.

“We are providing much-needed residential apartments and units that have been required for a while because there is a shortage of beds in northern Durban. There’s a lot of space here, so it provides an opportunity and it also says a lot about investment in Durban,” Mpono said.

He added that “money follows confidence” and that when you see investments in the city, it benefited the city as it showed that there was a lot of good within the city; and people don’t flock to places where it was unsafe.

He thanked the city for having an environment worthy of investment.
