Cape Town - It would be flippant, and insensitive, to say that everyone has a bad day, or errs on occasion.
To date Chief Justice Raymond Zondo has seemingly performed his duties, as the head of the state capture commission, faultlessly.
A painfully expensive exercise that may (or, more probably, may not) bear fruit and see some of the rogues in the government (read “ANC”) prosecuted and jailed.
Either way, it was a difficult, arduous and thankless task.
And then he sets Janusz Walus free on parole. How could he possibly consider that? Walus is a convicted cold-blooded murderer. Assassin. Executioner.
There is no excuse in anyone’s language for taking another life. He was judged guilty and sentenced to life in jail, and that’s how it should stay.
Just another strange outcome in this country’s “justice” system.
My sympathy goes to Chris Hani’s widow and loved ones.
