Love Pride Ball

The Love Pride Ball is where Cape Town’s Ballroom scene comes alive, loud, proud and unapologetically queer. Legacy, now entering its fourth year, isn’t about flashing lights and Instagram moments; it’s about community, resilience, and expression.

This is a space where chosen families thrive, history is honoured, and artistry is fiercely judged.

Ballroom culture has deep roots, born in 1960s New York by Black and Latino queer communities who were shut out of mainstream pageants. South Africa has taken that foundation and made it its own, a reflection of local struggles, triumphs, and creativity.

The Houses, led by “Mothers” and “Fathers,” provide both structure and support, while the Kiki scene gives young walkers a playground to experiment, and independent 007s carve out reputations on their own terms.

On the floor, every walk matters. Categories like Face, Realness, and Vogue Femme push talent, personality, and performance to the limit.

Behind the scenes, female-led Edition Events ensures production matches passion, lighting, sound, and atmosphere amplify the energy without overshadowing the people who make it extraordinary.

At its heart, legacy is about being seen, celebrated, and heard, a reminder that Ballroom in South Africa is alive, authentic, and here to stay.

Where: Hearty at The Old Biscuit Mill.

When: Saturday, February 7, at 9pm.

Vensters 2026

If you’re looking for something a little different to do this weekend, Vensters in Stellenbosch is calling your name.

This isn’t your average “let’s stand around and pretend we understand art” situation, it’s a full creative experience where music, performance, visuals and storytelling collide in one bold showcase.

Expect a lively atmosphere, strong local talent, and a crowd that actually came for the culture.

This year’s theme, Carnival of Dreams, promises an immersive escape into fantasy, colour and imagination, the kind of night where reality takes a backseat and creativity runs the show with vibrant performances, dreamy visuals, and a playful energy that makes the whole experience feel like stepping into a live artwork.

Vensters has been part of Stellenbosch’s cultural calendar for years, steadily building a reputation as a platform that champions emerging artists and fresh ideas.

Where: Coetzenburg Rugby Fields, Stellenbosch.

When: Saturday, February 7, at 12pm.
