Royal fans were treated to a little surprise this week as Prince William and Princess Catherine released a casual new photograph to celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary.
To mark their crystal milestone, the royal couple shared a heartwarming, never-before-seen picture taken by their trusted photographer, Matt Porteous, during a family Easter holiday to Cornwall.
The image, which they posted to Instagram with the simple caption: “Celebrating 15 years of marriage,” perfectly captures the modern, down-to-earth vibe the couple has cultivated behind closed doors.
In the sunny photo, the family is pictured barefoot, relaxing next to each other on the lush grass.
Catherine, who is at the centre of the family picture, wears a casual striped top and white jeans, with eight-year-old Prince Louis playfully resting his legs across hers.
A relaxed William, dressed in a polo shirt and shorts, flashes a smile toward his eldest son, twelve-year-old Prince George.
Ten-year-old Princess Charlotte lounges happily on the other end, while the family’s black cocker spaniel, Orla, and their new brown puppy join in on the fun.
The pair's love story is one for the history books. They first crossed paths back in September 2001 as students at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
What started as a friendship eventually blossomed into a romance by 2003.
After getting engaged late in 2010, they tied the knot on April 29, 2011, in a fairy-tale ceremony at Westminster Abbey.
A lot has changed over the past fifteen years. They welcomed George in 2013, Charlotte in 2015, and Louis in 2018.
More recently, their public standing shifted dramatically. Following the death of the late Queen in 2022, they officially took on their new, elevated roles as the Prince and Princess of Wales.
While the picture shows a joyful moment, it comes on the heels of what has been a challenging period of their lives.
In early 2024, Catherine was diagnosed with, leading to a year that William himself candidly described as “brutal”.
The Princess has, however, revealed that she is now in remission, and the couple have made a fresh start by moving into a new home, Forest Lodge, in Windsor Great Park.
