The Princess of Wales will not be attending Royal Ascot, as she continues to pace herself while recovering from cancer.
Although she had initially been expected to join the King, Queen, and Prince William in the traditional carriage procession, her name was quietly removed from the guest list.
Kensington Palace confirmed that Princess Catherine would not be attending the prestigious event, with sources suggesting she was disappointed to miss it. The decision is said to be part of her ongoing efforts to find a manageable rhythm while easing back into public life.
Prince William arrived at the Berkshire racecourse alongside King Charles III and Queen Camilla, and the trio took part in the pageantry of the royal procession before the day's races began.
Kate has only recently resumed some royal duties following the announcement in January that she is in remission. Her appearance at “Trooping the Colour” over the weekend was a significant and emotional moment for many, as she joined her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis in a carriage during the parade.
The family later appeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the traditional RAF Red Arrows flypast.
On Sunday, members of the royal family gathered for the “Order of the Garter” service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. It marked a poignant return to form for the royal calendar, though Kate did not attend this year’s ceremony.
The Princess first revealed her cancer diagnosis in March, having started preventative chemotherapy in February. Speaking publicly in January, she described her remission as "a relief".
While Royal Ascot missed her elegant presence this year, royal watchers remain hopeful she'll be back in the royal enclosure in due course when she feels ready.
