Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, has made history by hosting its inaugural Diwali celebrations, a festive event that has captured the hearts of visitors and the Indian community worldwide.

Held from October 9 to 12, the celebration marked a significant milestone with the Diwali Dance Fest 2025, a vibrant three-day event dedicated to honouring Indian culture and heritage.

The festivities kicked off with a spectacular parade that transformed the resort into a kaleidoscope of colours, showcasing the rich and diverse traditions associated with Diwali.

Adding a whimsical touch to the cultural celebration, beloved Disney characters, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, donned traditional Indian attire, delighting guests of all ages.

This unique representation not only highlighted the magnificence of Indian culture but also reinforced Disney’s commitment to inclusivity.

Pooja Jhunjhunwala, a travel content creator, shared her enthusiasm on Instagram, expressing how the celebrations resonated with her.

“Diwali Dance Fest 2025 in Walt Disney World makes my inner child so happy. I’ve been coming to Disney World with my family since I was 3 years old, and now to be part of my favourite Indian festival being celebrated here is unreal.

"Also, this was history in the making, the first Diwali parade at Walt Disney World! Seeing Mickey and Minnie in traditional Indian attire was not on my bingo card for 2025.”

Her post captured the essence of the event, alongside a personal reflection on the magic woven into the celebrations.

The Diwali festivities also featured a lively party and an international dance showcase that brought together 25 dance troupes from around the globe, celebrating the universal appeal of dance and culture.

The event concluded with a breathtaking fireworks display, illuminating the night sky and signifying the triumph of light over darkness, a central theme of Diwali.
