Being a public figure may not be entirely pleasing, particularly when you find yourself having to confront trolls, consistent needless criticism and cyber-bullying.
Popular influencer and content creator Mihlali Ndamase can say that she has had her fair share of trolls on social media since the day she revealed her newfound love publicly.
Ndamase, who is currently dating popular businessman Leeroy Sidambe, has been dragged on social media with claims that she is dating a married man.
This had placed Ndamase on the radar in the past few weeks with many calling her distasteful names such as Mary Jane Lite, a name referring to her as another version of Leeroy’s estranged wife Mary Jane.
Sidambe was compelled to step in as trolls showed no signs of abating, to clarify that he has been separated for months now and condemned the bullying.
“In March of this year after many months of trying to make things work, I took steps towards separation from my marriage and the marital home,” said Sidambe
“In this time I met a woman that I fell in love with. It has been heartbreaking to see her name dragged daily on social media for loving loudly and boldly. The constant harassment she receives, instigated by my estranged wife's associates, is unbearable and quite frankly not safe for anyone’s mental well-being.
“Mihlali Ndamase like all of us is human and has the right to follow her heart on who she loves. She is a self-sufficient woman, who has astutely run her business, which does not deserve this kind of hateful intrusion upon her life and work.”
Leeroy further explained in the statement that he could no longer turn a blind eye to the effect that the cyber-bullying has had on Ndamase.
“The constant defaming of those who work in the public space has to stop. In my view, cyber-bullies are spineless and hateful people, who hide behind the keyboard to strip others of their success with untruths coated as facts,” said Sidambe.
