J’Something (real name Joao da Fonseca) and his wife, Cordelia Fornseca, have reached a significant milestone: 13 years of friendship. Their bond continues to warm the hearts of their fans.
To celebrate, the Mi Casa lead singer shared a heartfelt message on social media. He wrote: "Cheers, I LOVE YOU. Today we celebrate 13 years of friendship.
“Honestly, one of the best decisions I’ve ever made was and continues to be to give you my time. In the same breath, one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever received has been YOUR time.
“I can't picture a day without you in it. Not a day, not an hour, not a second … Thank you for being such a great friend. I love you and LOVE exploring this ONE life with you. What a great decision I made."
The post, accompanied by a heart-warming video of the two dancing and laughing together, evokes a sense of happiness and admiration among their followers.
A study published in the “Journal of Social and Personal Relationships” found that the quality of friendship between partners significantly impacts relationship satisfaction. Friendship enhances communication, support and mutual respect, which are essential components of a healthy relationship.
Additionally, J’Something had the honour of singing the national anthem ahead of the international rugby match between the Springboks and Portugal.
This was a deeply meaningful performance for him, as Portugal is his country of birth, and South Africa is where he grew up.
Reflecting on the experience, J’Something told “The Citizen”, "It’s hard to find the words. It’s a moment that allowed me to reflect. I’ve grown up and formed my identity in South Africa. I can’t say I’m a South African without saying I’m Portuguese."
This wasn’t the first time J’Something performed a national anthem at a rugby match. He previously sang Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika before a Springboks vs All Blacks clash at Ellis Park.
J’Something moved to South Africa from Portugal with his family seeking a better life at the age of 7.
He took to Instagram: “IN THIS MOMENT I thought of all the sacrifices my mother made and all the hard decisions she had to make. In this moment I thought of how I had to leave my brothers side. In this moment I thought of my wife and our family that we’ve built.
“In this moment I thought of all the rugby games I played at school and friends I made through the sport. In this moment I thought of how much I love the fact that life has given me time in these two countries that have shaped me into the man I am today.
