Long-time Masandawana fan Vusi Twala has been granted the opportunity of a lifetime after winning a trip to watch his beloved Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions Final second-leg in Morocco.

Sundowns will be hunting a second CAF Champions League star when they face AS FAR in the continental showpiece.

The first-leg is scheduled for Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Friday, 15 May before Twala will travel to North Africa for the second leg in Rabat on Sunday, 24 May.

Twala, who has been a dedicated Sundowns supporter for 40 years, had his name drawn out of a hat prior to the Betway Premiership clash against Kaizer Chiefs at Loftus Versfeld on Wednesday.

“I've been supporting Sundowns since 1986,” Twala said. “Too excited, too excited. I don't know what to say, but too excited.”

In an added twist, Twala admitted that he defied his wife to come to the stadium to support the Brazilians.

“My wife doesn't allow me to come to the game,” he said. “But I forced to come to the game.

“I am here to watch the game. Yes, I love Sundowns. No one will separate me from Sundowns.”

Sundowns last won the CAF Champions League exactly a decade ago under legendary coach Pitso “Jingles” Mosimane back in 2016.

They also reached the final in 2001 and most recently came up short against Egyptian club Pyramids in last season’s final.

Miguel Cardoso’s team will now be looking to go one step further after last year’s disappointment.

Twala is eager to witness his team returning to South Africa with the coveted second continental title.

“I'll be there and then witness Sundowns winning another star,” he said.
