Orlando Pirates have granted Olisa Ndah’s request to be released from his contract with immediate effect, the club announced on Thursday morning.

“Orlando Pirates Football club can confirm that the club has reached a mutual agreement with defender Olisa Ndah to part ways,” the club wrote in a statement.

“The Nigerian international requested an early release from his contract, a decision that follows careful and respectful discussions between the player and the club’s management. Central to these conversations was a shared understanding to afford Ndah the opportunity to secure regular game time elsewhere as he enters the next phase of his career.”

Ndah entered the final six months of his contract with the club this month, and having battled injuries for much of his four-and-a-half-year stint at Pirates, the chances were high that his deal would not be renewed at the end of the season.

The 27-year-old arrived at Pirates in August 2021 without much fanfare, but he quickly endeared himself to The Ghost with his strong tackles, positional play, and uncompromising commitment to Pirates’ defensive structure.

While he spent a significant amount of time in the medical room, Ndah, who made more than 80 appearances for the Bucs, “embodied the values” of the club both on and off the pitch. Given his professionalism and loyalty to the badge, the club deemed it fitting to grant the Nigerian defender his request.

“The club respects Ndah’s desire for increased minutes on the field and acknowledges his honest engagement with management throughout the process,” the club added. “It is in this spirit of mutual respect that an amicable decision was reached.”
