TS Galaxy coach Adnan Beganovic expressed satisfaction with his side’s ability to maintain the momentum they built in the first half of the season after securing a 2 – 0 victory over Marumo Gallants on Wednesday evening at Mbombela Stadium.

Second – half goals from Mory Keita and Victor Letsoalo earned the Rockets their seventh win of the campaign and a crucial first victory of the new year – a result that saw them make good strides on the Betway Premiership table.

Despite the various challenges the Mpumalanga – based outfit have faced during the course of the 2025/26 season, they have remained one of the more consistent teams in the league. Their latest performance further strengthened their position in the top half of the table, with the club now sitting fifth at the halfway stage of the campaign.

Gallants have traditionally posed a stern test for Galaxy, both home and away, and although the visitors created several opportunities, they were ultimately wasteful in front of goal, continuing their struggles on the road.

Reflecting on the match, Beganovic was pleased with his team’s display against a Gallants side he described as difficult to play against, while feeling his players did enough to claim all three points.

“It was a tough match because Marumo Gallants play nice football with a good structure,” Beganovic told SuperSport TV after the match.

“It’s the first game of the second round and with some new players, we made three changes early in the second half and those changes gave us two beautiful goals, but I thought over the 90 minutes we deserved to win the match.

“I am happy because we didn’t lose our structure and philosophy. We are on the same track as last year and we want to stay there.”

Galaxy’s campaign has been affected by a series of FIFA bans that ruled the club out of registering new players at the beginning of the season. Adding to that, the Rockets must now also contend with the loss of key personnel, with Puso Dithejane and defender Khulumani Ndamane having moved on to Chicago Fire and Mamelodi Sundowns respectively.

Addressing life without the two players, Beganovic said the club had planned for their departures and praised the performance of Junior Zindoga on the night, who has been seen as Dithejane's replacement.

“That is our philosophy, we know which players to produce and which players to sell,” Beganovic continued.

“We had already prepared Junior to replace Puso Dithejane and with two assists he has improved a lot, but when it comes to scoring goals he can be much better.

“For us it is crucial that we do not lose our philosophy and our ability to attack, because we are so dangerous when we win the ball in transition and we want to keep that.”
