It may not be all doom and gloom for Kaizer Chiefs as they beat Orlando Pirates 2-0 in the DStv Diski Challenge Soweto Derby at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium on Sunday.

Kamogelo Malefo and substitute Naledi Hlongwane were the scorers for Chiefs in the PSL reserve league clash.

Pirates, though the loss will have hurt, can still take solace in the fact that they are still top of the league with 25 points from 11 matches.

Chiefs, meanwhile, are well down in sixth position with 18 points. Mamelodi Sundowns are second, two points behind Pirates.

Chiefs Face Al Masry in Caf Confederation Cup Amid Ntwari’s Injury Setback

The Chiefs first team are next in action on Sunday in the Caf Confederation Cup against Al Masry away - although the venue is still to be confirmed.

Last week, Chiefs were dealt a blow as it was revealed that goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari had been sidelined for two months after shoulder surgery.

In a post on X, the keeper was seen in a hospital bed attempting a smile. In the picture, we can his left shoulder has dark strapping with what also appears to be a drain from the wound.

Ntwari is said to be out of action for two months with his rehabilitation, although that appears optimistic considering he has undergone surgery.

It was not revealed where Ntwari went under the knife.

Ntwari’s Defiance: Chiefs’ Goalkeeper Refuses Substitution in Carling Knockout Loss

The 26-year-old has already had something of turbulent season with Chiefs, finding himself in hot water last month.

Ntwari refused to be substituted before the looming penalty shootout in his side’s Carling Knockout match against Stellenbosch FC in early October, and Chiefs said they will deal with the matter internally.

Bruce Bvuma had been ready to take the field ahead of the shootout, but instead he had to put his jacket back on and watch the action from the sidelines.

Chiefs would go on to lose the shootout, and Ntwari stood out as a clear act of defiance towards his coaching staff.
