Portuguese forward Flavio Silva opened his goal account for Kaizer Chiefs - helping the side to continue their positive form with a 1-0 win over Lamontville Golden Arrows at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.
Silva came from the bench to slot in the winner at the 70th minute.
The striker was immediately yellow carded after scoring, however, for excessive celebrations as he took his shirt.
Amakhosi took control of the game from early on in the first half, pressing the men in green against their back line.
Ahley Du Preez hit the first real shot on goal after the Arrows midfield let the ball slip through to the 18 yard box.
Chiefs cut through and managed to get a few more shots on target inside the 20th minute mark, but they were fended off.
A scrambled goal by Mduduzi Shabalala in the 21st minute was disallowed after Du Preez was caught offside inside the Arrows box, ruining their chance of a first half break through.
Abafana Bes'thende defender Keenan Phillips took a nasty knock on his left shin trying to clear a dangerous ball in the box, sliding into the goal post and took the impact on his leg.
A picturesque Chiefs shot on goal slid just over the top right corner and was the closest thing to a goal in the first half as the Soweto giants continued to dominate matters.
Amakhosi dominated possession and passing but still couldn't break through. The triangle passing moving forward from the flanks into the centre left the Arrows defence a bit dumb founded.
Arrows defended for dear life, with a slurry of Chiefs attacks inside the six-yar box at the half hour mark. A surprise counter attack for Arrows gave them their only credible shot for the half but chiefs goalkeeper, Brandon Petersen, pulled off a fantastic save to deny the home team.
This was Petersen's fourth match this season with three clean sheets.
The Bafana Bafana-bound Shabalala almost put Amakhosi up with at the end of first half but he sent it over the crossbar.
Manqoba Mnqithi's men came out with more grit in the second half, and also evening out the ball possession but could not make a play to cut through the Chiefs defence.
At the end of the day, Silva's goal was the only difference as Amakhosi continue to gather momentum as joint log leaders at 13 points along with another unbeaten side, Sekhukhune United.
