With a crucial game against Stellenbosch Fc coming up this weekend to kick off their season, Amazulu boss Sandile Zungu rested the hopes in his seasoned coaching unit.

The 51-year-old Soweto-born Arthur Zwane heads up the coaching unit together with Siboniso Vilakazi. Former Durban City man Simo Dladla has also joined the technical team.

Dladla was highly instrumental in Durban City's promotion to the Betway Premiership and the move to AmaZulu also pays homages to the close ties between KwaZulu-Natal football clubs.

Durban City's promotion means that four KZN-based teams play in the Betway Premiership. That seasoned technical unit will not have any easy task though, given that the club let go of 17 players at the end of last season.

The AmaZulu roster left over is a thin one indeed, but new signings and the strengthening of their technical team have kept the AmaZulu's spirits alive, according to Zungu.

Playing against determined Stellenbosch at the Cape Town City Stadium on Sunday will give supporters a taste of what the remaining players and new signings look like. Stellenbosch said that they are ready to "carry Cape football", according to Lee Langeveldt.

Stellenbosch have been the superior team of the two when comparing performances from last season, making the semi-finals of the caf confederation cup after a second consecutive third place finish in the league.

AmaZulu finished sixth in the league last season, giving the Western Cape team a mental edge going into Sunday's encounter, but Zungu appeared confident in his teams ability.

"We have strengthened our technical team, as you know Arthur Zwane - 10111, is the head coach for AmaZulu football club. We have a lot of confidence in him and have absolutely no doubt that our faith in him will be vindicated in no time.

"We retained the services of Mr Vilakazi (Siboniso). Further, we have recruited the services of uDladla (Simo), who is a highly accomplished soccer coach who took Durban City to promotion. He is effectively the reigning champion of the NFD. We are very excited to have his services. We also recruited Postnett Omony. We are very excited of that contingent of coaches. Young, able and vastly experienced in the PSL," Zungu said.
