Mamelodi Sundowns' Lucas Ribeiro the big winner at PSL Awards

Mamelodi Sundowns' Lucas Ribeiro walked away with most of the major prizes at the PSL Awards.

Mamelodi Sundowns star Lucas Ribeiro emerged as the biggest winner at the 2024/25 PSL Awards on Tuesday evening, claiming an impressive four accolades.

Ribeiro's electrifying performances throughout the season culminated in him winning the ultimate prize, the PSL Footballer of the Season. The South American attacker also walked away with the Betway Premiership Players’ Player of the Season, Betway Premiership Goal of the Season, and Betway Premiership Top Goal Scorer awards, underscoring his pivotal role in Sundowns’ triumphant league campaign.

Young Orlando Pirates sensation Relebohile Mofokeng also had a memorable night. He scooped both the Betway Premiership Young Player of the Season and the MTN8 Last Man Standing awards after a breakthrough campaign with the Buccaneers.

Mofokeng's Orlando Pirates teammates, Sipho Chaine, Nkosinathi Sibisi, and Makhehleni Makhaula, were also celebrated after they respectively scooped the best Goalkeeper, Defender, and Midfielder of the Season awards.

Mamelodi Sundowns mentor Miguel Cardoso was crowned Betway Premiership Coach of the Season after leading his team to the league title.

In other awards, Kaizer Chiefs winger Pule Mmodi, walked away with the Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament award. Orlando Pirates’ Mbekezeli Mbokazi was recognised as the Most Promising Player of the tournament.

Magesi FC’s Elvis Chipezeze claimed the Carling Knockout Player of the Tournament for his outstanding performances in their fairytale cup run.

Meanwhile, in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Muzomuhle Khanyi of Hungry Lions was rewarded for his outstanding season with both the Players’ Player of the Season and the Top Goal Scorer awards.In the same division, Teboho Lekhatla of Casric Stars was named the Young Player of the Season, while Dumsani Msibi of Durban City received honours as the Goalkeeper of the Season.

Additionally, in the DStv Diski Challenge, Tylon Smith from Stellenbosch FC was named Player of the Season, while and Orlando Pirates striker Siphamandla Msezane received the Top Goal Scorer award.

Match officials were also acknowledged, with Kgara Mokoena and Masixole Bambiso receiving the Assistant Referee and Referee of the Season awards, respectively.
