The South African Football Association (SAFA) has announced a new three-year partnership with global sportswear giant Adidas, marking the brand’s long-awaited return as the official technical sponsor of the country’s national football teams.
The deal, unveiled on Friday, rekindles one of South African sport’s most iconic collaborations — a relationship that evokes memories of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, when the country stood proudly as hosts and adidas kits became a symbol of national unity.
Fifteen years later, that same spirit of pride and belief returns as South Africa prepares to take its place on the world stage once more.
With Bafana Bafana qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and Banyana Banyana continuing to shine as continental champions, the timing could hardly be more fitting.
The partnership is designed to inspire a new generation of South African footballers and fans under Adidas' global message: “You Got This.”
SAFA Chief Executive Officer Lydia Monyepao said the partnership represents more than a commercial agreement — it’s a reflection of shared values and renewed ambition.
“This partnership is more than a sponsorship – it’s a return to shared values of pride, resilience, and performance,” said Monyepao.
“Adidas has long been part of our football story, and together we’ll inspire South Africans everywhere to believe that they’ve got what it takes.
“This return also marks the strengthening of our standing among global football nations as we compete regularly at FIFA and CAF tournaments. We’re proud to be supported by a brand that invests in innovation, performance, and style to meet the needs of a modern sports organisation like SAFA.”
Tom Brown, Senior Brand Director for Adidas South Africa, said the company is thrilled to once again be part of South Africa’s football journey.
“Football has the power to change lives whilst uniting and inspiring,” Brown said.
“Adidas has a proud and rich football heritage, pioneering products for the best teams and athletes around the world. We’re proud to again stand alongside Bafana Bafana, Banyana Banyana and other SAFA teams as they represent the spirit of South Africa on the international stage.”
The collaboration will see adidas supply all SAFA national teams — from Bafana and Banyana to the junior sides — with match kits, training gear, travel apparel, and a full fan collection.
The new range will officially launch on 24 March 2026, just months before the World Cup kicks off in North America.
Meanwhile, SAFA and Le Coq Sportif also announced on Friday the conclusion of their five-year partnership, which will officially end in December 2025.
The French brand has supplied South Africa’s national teams since 2020, and its exit will pave the way for a seamless transition to Adidas in 2026.
For SAFA, the new deal is a statement of intent — a signal that South African football is once again reclaiming its global standing.
And for Adidas, it’s a homecoming rooted in pride, passion, and the unifying power of the beautiful game.
