People of Cape Town! People of Mzansi! If one had to check the MMA thermometer after Saturday night’s show in Lansdowne, it would be clear: the sport is heating up fast.
Undisputed MMA rolled out its debut event at Oaklands High School - an institution in the Southern Suburbs tucked beside the well-known Chukker Road Sports Complex. The show was launched to fill the long-standing gap in MMA events in the area, and the turnout inside the High School Hall proved just how hungry Cape Town’s fighters and fans are for competitive platforms.
Helmed by revered coach Fidaah Edries and world-renowned actor Irshaad Ally, the event was a roaring success, selling out as supporters flooded in to back their favourite athletes.
With the support of committed sponsors and investors, the show also took on a deeper purpose: a portion of proceeds was donated to the Saartjie Baartman Centre for Women and Children, an organisation central to combating violence against women and children in Cape Town and empowering survivors to reclaim their safety, dignity, and human rights.
The gesture marked an important moment for the Undisputed MMA movement—acknowledging the social fractures within Cape Town while using sport as a vehicle for upliftment, empowerment, and community healing.
The night featured a 14-fight card that practically blew the roof off Oaklands High—Principal Jeffery may very well have to file an insurance claim this week …
On the undercard, brothers Aqib and Ashiq Rhode enjoyed a victorious evening, securing decision wins over Mugammad De Wet and Reagen Petersen, respectively.

Young Yaqeen Jacobs demonstrated maturity beyond his years, consoling a heartbroken Qadr Bassadien after submitting him with an armbar in their Youth D bout.
On the main card, Ubaidullah Abrahams edged out Abdu-Raziq in a gritty flyweight contest, earning a unanimous decision through superior grappling and positional control.
Rising combat sports star Frank Ngoka strengthened his growing reputation with a dominant performance over Pietie Lubbe, who showed incredible heart in their welterweight showdown.
In the title fights, Fighterz Inc’s Aayesha Majiet and the Performance Institute’s Jen Bromwich delivered a spirited flyweight battle. Their back-and-forth striking exchange captivated the crowd as both fighters slipped, countered, and adjusted with impressive awareness. Majiet’s power, composure, and precision ultimately sealed the deal, earning her a first-round stoppage.
The final bout saw MADFit MMA’s Devon Sarkis grind out a workmanlike victory over the ever-tough Zaahir Abrahams. Under the guidance of coach Don Madge, Sarkis showcased formidable wrestling and grappling—marking himself as one for the future.
The resilient and durable Abrahams, a respected and talented competitor, will no doubt return stronger; on this night, he was simply outworked.
