Padel enthusiasts hoping to test their mettle against Cape Town’s finest have another opportunity to do so in the upcoming Padel4Good competition taking place next month.
After a three-month break, the popular padel competition and sporting charity returns by popular demand for its fifth showcase of 2025.
On October 25th, a high-energy women’s tournament will take place at the Racket and Ball Padel Club in Cape Town. The action kicks off at 9 a.m., with 16 teams (32 players) stepping onto the club’s world-class courts, located in the heart of Bree Street.
The Racket and Ball Padel Club has played host to some of South Africa’s top competitions since its inception a few years ago and is widely regarded by players and supporters as “the padel venue to enjoy.”
This tournament marks the second Padel4Good event of the year, following a successful men’s competition in June that saw Bryce Wigston and David Allardice crowned champions after defeating Paul Atkinson and Anthony Scholtz 6-4 in a thrilling final on a chilly winter night.
“It was an awesome event as usual with Padel4Good,” said Allardice. “The final was super tough against two opponents I know well. Luckily, we had just enough left in the tank to get over the line.”
In the last women’s edition, the formidable sister duo Lena Lisa Bester and Terina Coetzee once again proved unstoppable, maintaining their reputation as the team to beat after winning every competition they have entered together. At the time of writing, it remains unclear whether they will compete again, but should they return, the rest of the women’s field will be eager to dethrone them.
The event is open to players rated between 2 and 5 on the Playtomic app and serves as the penultimate Padel4Good event of the year, before the season concludes with another men’s tournament on November 7. For updates, fans can follow the official Padel4Good Instagram account.
Beyond the excitement on court, Padel4Good remains committed to its mission as a non-profit organisation, raising funds for causes such as supporting women and children in need and combating femicide and abuse. The initiative has become a cornerstone of Cape Town’s padel community, proving that sport can be a powerful tool for social change.
Padel’s popularity has skyrocketed in South Africa in recent years, with new clubs and courts opening across major cities like Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Durban. Once considered a niche sport, padel is now attracting players from tennis, squash, and even non-racket sport backgrounds, drawn by its fast-paced and social nature.
South Africa currently boasts one of the fastest-growing padel communities in Africa, with international tournaments and exhibition matches drawing global attention. Industry insiders suggest that the number of padel courts in the country could double within the next two years, as demand from both social players and competitive athletes continues to surge.
Events such as Padel4Good not only highlight the sport’s rising profile but also ensure that growth is tied to meaningful impact, blending competition, community, and charity into a uniquely South African story.
Charity4Good – the non-profit organisation behind its sporting initiative, Padel4Good – together with its partners, will be part of another exciting social development event next month.
On October 11th, the Edgemead Sports Facility will host the Influencer Charity Match, featuring an 11-a-side football clash like no other. A total of 32 influencers will take to the field, while 40 of South Africa’s top social media personalities and entertainers – including Ricki Vannie Frontline, Mr Meyer, Young OG Cpt, Junior King, King Burger, Plaasnar, Uncle Cedric, and many more – will be part of the day’s festivities.
The event promises high-energy football action, electrifying music, and entertainment throughout. Entry is just R50, with all proceeds going to the Peninsula School Feeding Association, supporting their mission to provide meals to children in need.
