It was yet another explosive week filled with damning revelations at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, with Witness C, a member of the SAPS Political Killings Task Team, taking centre stage and spilling the beans over relations between suspended police minister Senzo Mchunu, Vusumuzi 'Cat' Matlala, Brown Mogotsi and Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya.
In this video, IOL's Mendy Mtshali dissects Witness C's witness testimony from Thursday, focusing on allegations that linked organised crime, senior police officials, and political manoeuvres.
The video details claims that General Shadrack Sibiya received multimillion‑rand payments tied to a SAPS contract from Matlala.
The commission also heard testimony about how Matlala was funding Mchunu’s bid for the ANC presidency, although the controversial business also admitted in a voice recording that he did not believe Mchunu could win.
Witness C provided evidence from a remote location as he now lives under strict security protocols, along with other key PKTT investigators and officers, whose lives have been threatened by the investigations they have undertook.
The Madlanga Commission will resume on Monday.
