Police have denied that suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya has been arrested.
This follows media reports that police officers have reportedly surrounded Sibiya's home, and his arrest is imminent.
National police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said: "There are investigations that are ongoing as publicised and mentioned at the ad hoc committee and the Madlanga Commission.
"As SAPS, we are not aware of any person who has been arrested thus far, and that includes Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya."
Officers are currently inside Sibiya’s home, although the general himself has yet to arrive with his legal representative.
Sibiya has recently been thrust into the spotlight following serious allegations by Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
Mkhwanazi claimed that Sibiya, suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, and others are part of a syndicate purportedly obstructing police operations in South Africa.
As the situation unfolds, Independent Online (IOL) will provide continuous updates as more verified information emerges.
