In the heart of Sarepta, Kuilsrivier, an inspiring movement is underway, supported by Kamal CISCO, a company not just content with business success but dedicated to assisting and building on the efforts made by the locals of Kuilsrivier. From feeding hungry families to launching pioneering solar projects and supporting critical eye surgeries, Kamal CISCO is making a tangible difference in the lives of many.

At the forefront of this impactful change is the Tinkies Feeding Scheme, a remarkable initiative founded by Jozeen Dreyer, who understands the power of giving back after her own battle with cancer. For over a decade, Jozeen has opened her home every Tuesday and Thursday evening, as well as Sunday lunchtimes, to feed those in need with nutritious, hot meals. The scheme is a lifeline for many, serving delicious chicken stew, vegetable soup, and a variety of fresh fruits and yoghurts to hundreds of children and adults who arrive hungry.

To further enhance their operations, Tinkies recently received support from Kamal CISCO, which donated a much-needed gazebo and reusable containers to comply with local food safety laws. The team not only made these crucial donations but also lent a helping hand to the dedicated volunteers, showcasing the spirit of genuine kindness and communal solidarity that is vital in times of hardship.

The need for such support is evident, as demonstrated by Premier of the Western Cape, Allan Winde, during his visit to Kamal CISCO on 20 June for the launch of their Rooftop Solar Project. Premier Winde emphasised the importance of job creation and skills development, a philosophy that is echoed within the halls of Kamal CISCO. The collaboration with Kasselsvlei High School allows technically trained school leavers to gain invaluable hands-on experience, nurturing the next generation of skilled workers.

Among the distinguished guests at the event was Mrs Ruby Jaspreet, the Consul General of India in Cape Town, who engaged in discussions around the Western Cape's shift towards cleaner energy and innovative projects like “green steel." Premier Winde not only inaugurated the solar project by cutting the ribbon but also took part in a symbolic act of planting a tree in the Kamal CISCO garden, illustrating their commitment to environmental preservation.

Kamal CISCO’s corporate social responsibility extends far beyond local initiatives. On 15 May, the company was one of the main sponsors of the Gift of Sight Invitational Golf Day, an annual event that funds pro-bono cataract surgeries for the underprivileged. Partnering with the Eye Laser Clinic and led by Juandre Kruger, a former rugby star and CEO, this prestigious gathering raises hundreds of thousands of rand for those in need, ensuring that eye care is accessible for all.

As Kamal CISCO continues to innovate and uplift those around them, their achievements in community support, environmental consciousness, and health care demonstrate that the business world can be a powerful vehicle for meaningful change. Their blend of compassion and action serves as a beacon of hope for others to follow, reminding us of our shared responsibility to create a brighter future together.
