Four suspects were shot and injured following a fierce shootout with law enforcement in Pinetown on Tuesday.

The incident unfolded quickly after police responded to reports of a house robbery on Oxford Road in the Paradise Valley area, according to police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda.

He said police received a tip-off regarding the ongoing robbery and moved swiftly towards the scene.

"As officers approached the targeted residence, they spotted a white VW Polo making a hasty exit and attempted to pull the vehicle over. However, the driver evaded arrest, prompting police to initiate a high-speed pursuit in the direction of Underwood Road," Netshiunda said.

Paramedics arrived promptly at the scene to treat the injured suspects before they were transported to a nearby hospital under heavy police escort.

"Police recovered two firearms along with a stash of stolen goods, which included a flat-screen television, valuable jewellery, two designer handbags, and various home appliances," Netshiunda said.

Meanwhile, a manhunt is underway for a fifth suspect who managed to flee.

Police have urged anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of this individual to come forward to assist in bringing all parties involved to justice.

Netshiunda said police are investigating cases of armed robbery and attempted murder and will appear in court in due course.
