Two other suspects were left injured as they attempted to flee from police.

On Tuesday, two police officers were conducting routine patrols along Danisa Road in the Bester area when they were unexpectedly targeted by an assault of gunfire from at least ten assailants.

Responding swiftly, the officers returned fire, resulting in a chaotic scene as the perpetrators scattered.

By Wednesday, police had tracked the suspects to the KwaDabeka KK Hostel. As officers zeroed in on a room where the suspects were hiding, the individuals opened fire, provoking an immediate response from the police.

A fierce shootout ensued, during which one suspect was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, three suspects managed to escape through the windows; however, law enforcement officials quickly apprehended two of them outside with gunshot wounds. They were subsequently taken to a hospital under police guard, while the third escapee remains at large.

In a remarkable discovery, authorities found the suspects to be in possession of a firearm and an alarming 93 rounds of ammunition.

Further investigation led to the recovery of three additional firearms.

As investigations continue, police remain vigilant, actively seeking more suspects involved in this brazen attempt on the officers' lives.

The arrested suspects are expected to appear in court once they are deemed physically fit.
