Nabilah Diedericks, Founder, Owner, and Director of Finz Aquatics and Fitness Development, is making a powerful impact in the Cape Flats through her commitment to community development, inclusion, and women empowerment.
As a passionate leader and changemaker, Diedericks has built an organisation that goes beyond swimming, using sport as a vehicle to create access, opportunity, and long-term social impact.
Currently in the final year of her Master of Philosophy in Sport for Development, Diedericks' academic work focuses on how sport can be used as a tool for development within underserved communities. Her research is not confined to theory but is actively applied through Finz Aquatics and Fitness Development, where she continues to bridge the gap between knowledge and real-world impact.
Swimming is offered to toddlers from 6 months of age to 80 years of age (adults). This includes tod-swim, group sessions, basic learn to swim, and adult classes. Tod-swim offers fun and play through songs and actions.

Finz Aquatics and Fitness Development, founded with no initial capital, has grown from just 15 learners to serving over 400 participants within the Cape Flats. The organisation has become a trusted, community embedded initiative, offering structured swimming lessons, water safety education, and inclusive programmes for individuals of all backgrounds.
Notably, Finz Aquatics has created space for children with special needs and disabilities, groups often excluded from mainstream sports, demonstrating a strong commitment to accessibility and inclusion.
Through its work, Finz Aquatics and Fitness Development has gained recognition for its innovative approach to sports development, community engagement, and youth empowerment. The organisation continues to build partnerships, expand programmes, and position itself as a leader in aquatic development within underserved communities.
Diedericks' leadership reflects a deep belief in community-enabled growth, where the voices of women and youth and the needs of the community shape the direction of development. As a woman in leadership, she continues to inspire others by demonstrating resilience, vision, and purpose-driven action.
Looking ahead, Diedericks aims to scale Finz Aquatics and Fitness Development into the first high-performance aquatic centre in the Cape Flats, further expanding access to sport, development opportunities, and holistic support services.
Her journey is a testament to the power of passion, purpose, and community, proving that when access is created, potential can thrive
