Power has been fully restored at Cape Town International Airport following a fire incident earlier Tuesday in the Northern Service Yard.
The Airports Company South Africa said the fire was reported at about 11:15am and was extinguished shortly thereafter.
As a precaution, sections of the International Terminal affected by smoke were evacuated.
“While technical teams are currently stabilizing network and IT systems, services are progressively returning to normal,” ACSA said.
Operations have resumed at international departures, however, due to the earlier suspension, passengers should expect delays and schedule adjustments.
Some international arrivals were diverted during the incident. Passengers were urged to confirm arrival statuses directly with their airlines.
For domestic flights, both arrivals and departures experienced minor disruptions due to system outages.
“Delays may persist as operations stabilize,” ACSA said.
To avoid unnecessary congestion at the terminal, passengers are encouraged to check the ACSA App for real-time updates and contact their airline directly to confirm flight status before traveling to the airport.
“We extend our sincere thanks to the emergency response teams for their swift and professional action,” ACSA said.
