Police are offering a R60 000 reward for information leading to the identification of suspects in the murder of ANC convenor of Ward 96, Myolisi Magibisela, who was shot and killed in his Makhaza home.

Magibisela's murder in June sent shockwaves through the Khayelitsha community.

According to reports, residents heard gunshots in the area and upon investigating, saw a white VW Jetta speeding away from the scene. Police were called immediately and responded to the scene, where Magibisela was declared dead.

Magibisela had been a long-serving member in the area, part of the Khayelitsha Community Policing Forum and the Silencing the Guns campaign.

Police spokesperson Ndakhe Gwala on Friday said the Provincial Serious Violent Crime detectives are appealing to the members of the public to come forward with information that can assist in the investigation of the murder case.

“Myolisi, a 48-year-old community leader and activist, engaged in efforts to fight extortion in the Makhaza area. His life was cut short when he was brutally gunned down on 23 June 2025 by unknown gunmen.

"A R60 000 reward for anyone who will bring forth credible information that will assist in the identification of the suspects."

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact the investigating officer Detective Captain Lukhanyo Magadla on 082 411 3245 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
