THE family of 18-year-old Nafees Isaacs, who went missing at Bakoven beach last weekend, say they are struggling to come to terms with his death after his body washed up at Beta Beach on Friday morning.

Nafees, from N2 Gateway in Delft, his sister, and a group of friends visited Camps Bay beach during the early hours of September 27, but their trip turned into a nightmare when the teen vanished at sea.

The teen slipped off a rock and disappeared into the water.

Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg confirmed that a male body was discovered at Beta Beach, Bakoven, on Friday morning that fits the description of Nafees.

Twigg said: “Camps Bay police registered an inquest for investigation after the body of a male was discovered on the rocks at Beta Beach, Bakoven, on Friday morning, at about 7.30am.

“A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death. We can confirm that the person fits the description of the 18-year-old male who was reported missing.”

Nafees’ heartbroken father, Sulayman, said he feels better knowing that his son has been found but he is struggling to come to terms with losing a child.

The shattered father said: “I can’t describe how I feel, it is too fresh and it is the first time I lose a child out of all my nine children.

“It is very sudden and he was still so young but I feel at ease knowing that his body has been found. There is no more uncertainty if he will ever be found and if his body will wash out... and that was my biggest fear. I told myself I will be at ease when they find his body and we can give him a proper and respectful burial.

“Our entire family is emotional because we miss his ways and personality. He was very respectful... he was never disrespectful to grown ups or one to talk back.”
