THE Gugulethu community is reeling in shock following the brazen murder of popular DJ and community sportsman Luvuyo 'P Touch' Sapepa.
He was attacked on Monday afternoon in NY139, Gugulethu, as he got out of a vehicle. An unidentified man was also killed in the same incident.
Sapepa’s murder was captured on videos which have since gone viral on social media. In the first clip, a man in a white vest can be seen standing outside a car as a white Suzuki passes.
He ducks and runs into a yard. As the front passenger door opens, Sapepa is struck and collapses.
The driver of the vehicle reverses away from the scene while a shooter follows the man in the vest. Two more gunmen then approach and shoot Sapepa in the head.
In the second clip, the man in the vest is seen falling as he runs through a narrow passage.
A gunman in a maroon T-shirt fires a rifle while two others use pistols to finish him off. They then flee.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said Gugulethu police registered two counts of murder following a shooting on Monday at 1.20pm at a premises in NY139 where two males aged 43 and 51 were shot dead.
“According to reports, members attended a shooting incident at the mentioned address, and upon their arrival, they discovered the bodies of the two males, of which one was lying in front of the premises on the pavement, while the second body was lying inside the premises next to the side of the house.
“Both deceased sustained multiple gunshot wounds to their upper bodies. The victims were declared dead on the scene by medical personnel. The motive for the attack forms part of the police investigation. The suspects are yet to be arrested,” he said.
Sapepa was celebrated as a man of many talents, known not only for his music but also as a soccer player and runner.
He was a resident DJ at Teez Lounge and a member of the Gugulethu Athletic Club.
In a statement, the club paid tribute to him: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of one of our valued members, Luvuyo Sapepa, affectionately known as @positivetouchza. He wore his orange uniform with pride and served our club with unwavering commitment. Whether it was securing sponsorships, creating content, or offering his support wherever it was needed, Luvuyo worked tirelessly behind the scenes to strengthen and uplift our community.
“The Orange Army extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and fellow members. His contribution and spirit will be remembered with gratitude and respect.”

Gugulethu Community Policing Forum chairperson Deon Matiki said: “These kinds of shootings leave our community members traumatised because they don’t happen in areas without people. There are people, including children. We can’t live in a community where guns are ringing. We condemn such acts of violence because they affect innocent people.”
