This is an entrance to the Kraal where a man was shot and killed in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A man was shot dead at the entrance to the Kraal, an informal settlement connected to Bo-Kaap via Chiappini and Hout streets, on Sunday, January 26.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi said Cape Town Central police responded to a complaint received in the early hours of the morning.
“Upon arrival near Chiappini and Hout Street, they found the body of a man who sustained gunshot wounds. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel. The unknown suspects fled and are yet to be arrested. According to reports the occupants of a silver BMW approached the victim upon which gunshots was fired at him.”
Warrant Officer Swartbooi said Cape Town Central police are investigating a case of murder.
Bo-Kaap Security owner Megan Kassiem, said the company’s security guards had heard the shooting and checked if all the houses were safe.
“They then arrived at the main entrance of the Kraal and saw someone laying there. They immediately notified the emergency services to assist,” said Ms Kassiem.
The Bo-Kaap Civic and Ratepayers’ Association as well the neighbourhood watch were contacted by the Atlantic Sun for information regarding the incident, but no response was received at the time of publication.
