Several thousand Eskom clients have been left without electricity due to the inclement weather.
As the inclement weather continues to wreak havoc across the Western Cape, Eskom confirmed that more than 25 000 Eskom customers across the Western Cape have been left without power.
In a statement, the utility said the electricity network remained vulnerable due to the extreme weather conditions.
“The electricity network remains vulnerable as parts of the Western Cape province continues to experience gale-force winds, heavy rain and flooding after the South African Weather Service issued a level 8 warning for (today),” said Eskom.
Affected areas include:
“In some areas, the severe weather conditions have created major challenges for Eskom technicians trying to get access to these faults, which will affect restoration operations.
“Eskom will monitor these situations closely, and resume restoration efforts to these areas as soon as it is safe for technicians to do so.
“Eskom urges customers to remain patient during this difficult time and apologises for any inconvenience caused,” the utility said.
