The National Lottery Operator, ITHUBA, has announced that this week players have a chance to win a guaranteed R100 MILLION from two of the biggest games in their portfolio.
The PowerBall jackpot for Tuesday 16 July 2019 is guaranteed at R50 Million; while the LOTTO jackpot is guaranteed at the same amount for the Wednesday 17 July 2019 draw.
This comes after there has been no jackpot winner on both games over the past week, with PowerBall on its 11th rollover and LOTTO on its 14th.
To clarify on the difference between a guaranteed and an estimated jackpot, Khensani Mabuza, Corporate Relations Executive at ITHUBA explains:
“Every week the jackpot is estimated at an amount which is based on expected sales. This means that should there be a winner of the estimated jackpot, there is a chance that the actual jackpot payout maybe slightly less or more than the estimated amount”, she says.
With regards to guaranteed jackpots such as the ones up for grabs this week, Mabuza adds: “With special draws, ITHUBA will offer a guaranteed jackpot prize that is not affected by sales. This means that regardless of player participation and actual sales, the winner of the guaranteed jackpot will get no less than the advertised amount in full”, says Mabuza.
While winning R50 Million may bring life-long financial relief to winners, it requires careful financial planning. ITHUBA says that players need not be nervous about how they will manage their new wealth.
