PPC to open Zimbabwe mill

Johannesburg

– PPC Zimbabwe is set to open its Harare mill on Wednesday.

At the opening,

it will host high-level government officials and key customers, it said in a

statement on Thursday.

It says

the modern cement milling and dispatch facility will improve the company’s

competitive position in the high growth area of the Harare market, and bring

collective production capacity to 1.4 million tons per annum.

Completed

on time and under budget as part of PPC’s African expansion strategy, the $82

million project features a cement ball mill with dynamic separator; a

single-line packer, palletiser, stretch hood and storage warehouse; road and

rail off-loading facilities; and a bulk bag loading facility, among others.

PPC

Zimbabwe Chairman Todd Moyo notes the addition of the Harare factory to the

company’s Colleen Bawn mining and Bulawayo factory operations means that PPC

will not only be able to meet demand in Zimbabwe’s economic hub, but will

additionally boost country exports to other regional markets, including Zambia

and Mozambique.
