AFTER being arrested on Christmas Eve for speeding in his blue Maserati, DJ Black Coffee has gained little sympathy online.
The much-loved controversial DJ was allegedly driving at 200km/h in a 120km/h zone on the N1 in Florida, west of Johannesburg. Following his arrest and release on bail of R800, he shared an apology on his Facebook and Twitter pages.
“My occupation as a DJ requires long distance travelling and on that night I was on the way to fulfil another of my work obligations. While on the way, I received a family emergency call which compelled me to drive back home as a matter of urgency.
“I am aware that this is the season most rife with road carnage, therefore, adhering to the road laws, taking the necessary precautions in line with our country’s Arrive Alive campaign, I’m inclined to express my deepest regrets.”
However, this didn’t mend things with his fans:
@Unathi_Kwaza tweeted: “Black Coffee… From cheating scandals to speeding scandals… Careful who your kids consider a role model…”
This was echoed by @JustZweli: “Black Coffee mustn’t come with that bulls**t family emergency story. He was speeding because he can. 99% of us have & do. Sorry he was caught.”
Other celebrities arrested recently for speeding include Trevor Gumbi and DJ Sbu.
