POLICE are searching for suspects involved in three of four murders that happened over as many days in Hanover Park, one of the most volatile gang violence hot spots in the province.
At the weekend, when three men were shot within 28 hours in the area, a number of residents had told the Cape Times the shootings were a result of fighting over drug turf among three gangs, the Ghetto Kids, Mongrels and the Americans.
They had said despite an increased police presence in Hanover Park, the violence was continuing.
Police spokesman Andrè Traut said a fourth murder took place early yesterday.
He said so far, three suspects had been arrested in connection with two of the four murders.
Two other murders occurred in Hanover Park on Saturday and arrests in these cases were yet to be made.
At the weekend Hanover Park resident Freddy Adams and a resident who said he was an ex-gangster, and therefore did not want to be named, said most of those involved in the shootings were between 15 and 20 years old.
They said it appeared as if a younger group of gang members was behind the killings.
Anyone with information on these murders can contact CrimeStop anonymously on 08600 10111 and police may offer a reward.
