DURBAN - One person died and eight others injured in different accidents in and around Durban at the weekend.

Paramedic Garrith Jamieson said one person had been killed and four others injured in a horrific single-vehicle accident on the N3 Durban-bound at Hammarsdale on Saturday.

He said the driver of the vehicle had lost control and the vehicle overturned multiple times, ejecting its occupants, before coming to rest on its wheels.

“A female believed to be in her forties sustained fatal injuries and there was nothing more paramedics could do for her and he was declared deceased on the scene,” said Jamieson.

Just after 5pm on Saturday, ALS Paramedics and KZN VIP Medical attended to a serious taxi accident on the N3, Pietermaritzburg-bound, before the M1 Richmond Road in Pinetown.

Jamieson said a single taxi had lost control and overturned multiple times before coming to rest on its side.

“Multiple people sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate and were stabilised on the scene by advanced life support paramedics before being transported to a nearby Durban Hospital for the further treatment that they required,” he said.
