There’s nothing quite like a big, juicy, cheesy burger when you’re craving something on the meaty side.
Well, that’s just me anyway. You can give me a cheeseburger over a boerie roll any day!
And if, like me, you’re keen to find your next burger fix but want to venture outside of your comfort zone, then you will want to check out the burgers content creator @ali.jaxx has been discovering all over Cape Town.
On a mission to find the best burger in Cape Town, he’s been trying a burger from different establishments that he’s either heard about or that people have recommended.
You know how people love to say that they have “the best burgers”, but is it really, though?
The proof, as they say, is in the pudding. Well, in this case, the burger.
From the CBD to the suburbs, he’s already on part 19 of his “Search for the best burger in Cape Town.”
Here’s a look at his top-rated burgers so far.
Starting strong with a solid 9.2 out of 10, he couldn’t stop raving about the American cheese Wagyu burger he had at Conscious Carnivores at the V&A Waterfront, which he refers to as a “hidden gem low-key banger.”
One bite into the burger and it’s pretty evident that it’s really juicy.
“I would definitely recommend this for someone looking for a delicious, healthy burger,” he said.
Up next, with a 9.1 out of 10 rating, is Iron Steak and Bar’s Wagyu burger, which he admits was the most expensive burger he had at that point.
It’s the juicy Wagyu patties, “amazing melted milky” cheese and the truffle sauce that won him over.
Burgers and Brews on Bree Street really got him going, and one can see why he gave their smash burger with four patties a 9 out of 10. (Explains the f-bombs.)
The pickles, great sauce, melted cheese and well-seasoned beef with a nice sear are what won him over.
Le Pickle in De Waterkant made it on his list as well, and this time it’s the burger bun and the pickles that were the highlight.
“They make their own house bun and house sauce. Definitely one of the best burger buns I’ve had so far,” he comments.
And because the place is called Le Pickle, one would expect the pickles to be good.
“The onions and pickles inside were second to none,” he confirms.
He rated their Le Onion burger an 8.9 out of 10.
Sho Sho Burgers on Loop Street, where he opted for a spicy smash, got its stamp of approval with an 8.8 out of 10 rating.
“The sear on the patties is super good and crispy,” he raves.
