TikTok has overtaken Instagram as the most popular app among Gen Z - that’s anyone born between 1997 and 2012, according to a new study.
A report by Forrester Analytics Consumer Technographics US Youth Survey 2021 showed a 13-point year-over-year increase in weekly usage of TikTok (from 50% to 63%) among US Gen Z youth (ages 12 to 17).
For that same audience base, Instagram use declined four points from 61% in 2020 to 57% in 2021, while Snapchat remained flat at 54%, as reported by Forbes Magazine.
According to Africa Business, TikTok, created in 2016 by Chinese company ByteDance, was downloaded more than two billion times on Apple’s App Store or on Google Play.
